Latest Release: Version 1.2.281
Release Date: 24 June 2009
Basic Usage
Use your applications as you normally would. CoDefender protection automatically
switches on when it is possible to do so, such as whenever you make a protected
application active or bring it to the foreground. A protected application
is an application that has a corresponding Protection Module installed and
enabled.
Typing into a protected application inconspicuously brings up the CoDefender Protection
Status window (shown below). The Protection
Status window automatically fades and disappears if no keystrokes are detected
for several seconds.
If you are making an important Internet-based transaction, typing your password,
or entering any sensitive information into an application, look for the
following in the Protection Status window:
- The green CoDefender symbol on the top-left corner of the window.
- The name of the active application shown next to the CoDefender symbol.
- Display of an encrypted key value in the "Captured Keystrokes"
text box for each keystroke you enter. This
means only incomprehensible data is captured by a keylogger. Be careful if clear
text appears in this text box, as it means your keystrokes are not encrypted.
An application can only be protected if it has a corresponding Protection Module installed and enabled.
The Protection Status window appears as follows for an unprotected application:
Your keystrokes are not protected from keyloggers
if the Protection Status window shows "Application Not Protected".
The CoDefender notification icon also shows the current protection status. A green
icon means protection is on, a red icon means protection is off, and a yellow
notification icon means CoDefender software is performing initialization operations.
During CoDefender software initialization, the Protection
Status window shows, "Initializing, please wait". Please wait for the status to
change to "Application Not Protected" before starting applications you wish to
protect. In general, applications are not protected if they are started before initialization is complete.
See the User's Guide for more details. Pressing the 'F1' key within the Protection
Status window brings up the User's Guide. The User's Guide can also be opened from
the installation directory or Programs menu.
Configuration
